Makayla eating Solids

Makayla is starting to finally eat food that isn't pureed. She still only has two bottom teeth, but I am pretty sure more are coming soon. We got her these great teething biscuits. She actually, liked them. So, last night for dinner she had a biscuit and some lumpy applesauce, that she used to gag on, but now she can eat. She is really starting to grow up.

Tired Anyone?

Well, as we were going about our busy day yesterday, running errands here and there, we stopped at our house for naps and lunch. But, James Micheal decided to take them together. I was making him a sandwich, so I gave hime a yogurt to tied him over until then. And well you can guess what happened. I walk over to give him his sandwich and this is what I saw. Him passed out on the table with the yogurt cup on his hand. Luckily, he had a snack right there when he woke up. HA HA! Oh my silly little boy!

Happy 1st Birthday Makayla

Well, it is official, it has been one whole year since Makayla Grace came into our home. I remember all the worries I had when she was born, and how we thought our lives would never be normal. But, Makayla has created a new normal for our family. Our lives our blessed every day with her sweet spirit. She is nothing but a joy to us. She is always happy and smiling and full of love. We knew she would be a special baby, and she has proved that she is more than special, she is our angel. And we all love her so much. We love you Makayla, Happy Birthday!!! Love, Mom, Dad, and your big brother.

We did have some great pictures of her eating a cupcake, but I couldn't get them off our memory card, so I took a couple more that aren't as good. She was so funny when we first gave her the cupcake, she cried and cried, but then, she licked her fingers and decided it was pretty good. Pretty soon, she had her whole face on the high chair tray, licking frosting. She was so funny. I gave her a bath, but she still smelled like frosting, oh well, I guess it is because she is so sweet.

My Sick Girl!!

Well, I haven't posted in a while because, my little Makayla is sick. This is the first time she has been ill, since I had her, almost a year ago. She came down with a fever and a bad cough on Sunday. She got worse on Monday, so I took her to the doctor on Tuesday. My poor little baby had an ear infection, a rather nasty one at that, to cause all of her other symptoms. She got medicine and a blessing that day and is doing almost 100% better. Of course she still has a cough, but no more fever and she is eating normal again. She would just lay on the floor on her side and fall asleep for the last two days. Poor thing, she was so miserable but seems to be improving now. And unfortunately in the midst of her sickness, I got sick, probably because I was up with her and rocking her a lot and running around trying to make her feel better. So, James stayed home from work yesterday and took care of all of us. At the end of the day, he was exhausted, and said,"Wow, it is hard being a mommy." Don't I know it!! What a great father and husband. Thank you honey for nursing your girls back to health!

Book Boy

So my son, now loves books. I thought he would love books the day he was born, but that wasn't the case. I use to try to read to him when he was a baby and he would just cry and wiggle in my arms. But now, he will sit through at least two Dr. Seuss books without moving. He loves the Dr. Seuss books. I think it is because of the rythm and rhyming of the words. So, when I went to put him down for a nap, all I could see on his bed was books, books, books, and more books. So, I had to take a picutre or two. I love books so I am glad to see he is following in my footsteps.

Happy Valentine's Day

Well, another year and another Valentine's Day. I thought I would take this special occassion to tell everyone about my sweet little babies. James Micheal is doing really well and seems to say a new word every day. I love his sweet spirit. He always says, please and thank you, and every now and then he will run up to you and give you a hug, just because. His new favorite thing to say is, "I found you" and "You stop it!" These really aren't that funny of phrases, but believe me when they come out of his mouth it is hillarious. He also has a devilish streak. He got a hold of a permanent marker and drew all over his hands. Luckily, it came off pretty well.

Makayla, seems to be growing leaps and bounds too. She is always so happy and constantly has a smile on her face. She makes everyone in the home happy and brings so much peace and love into our family. I can't believe she is almost one. Times passes so quickly. We got her a jumper, to help strengthen her legs, and boy, does she love it. She spends about 3 hours in it a day, and loves every minute of it. She also loves her bath time. That is a really big accommplishment for her since she used to hate it.

James is doing really well at his work and is a great father and husband. He recently had his 25th birthday, and as a birthday/valentine's day present he got a really nice 32" LCD Flat Screen TV. He also got me a iPod Touch for my Valentine's Day present. It is so awesome, I like to use it to work out. Since I still have a few pounds of baby fat on me, I like to go run on the treadmill in our work out facility.

Heavenly Father, has really blessed our life in the last year and I am so grateful for all the wonderful ways He has shown us how He loves us. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. We love you All!!!!

The Next Picaso

My son loves to draw. He colors almost all day if he isn't sleeping or eating. He is so funny when he colors too. He is so concentrated that he almost like gets into this trance when he is drawing. He definetly has something artistic in him. His favorite things to draw are trains, dinosaurs, stars, and cars, but for some odd reason they all end up looking like badly drawn circles. Oh well, I am sure that he can just get better with time. Here are a couple of pictures of him being studious while drawing.

James Micheal's Blood Blister

So, James, the kids, and I were all sitting on the couch on Saturday night, playing around. When all of a sudden, I heard a loud cracking sound. I look over and see that James Micheal is crying his eyes out. He had hit the side of his head on the edge of our couch, which shouldn't be very hard but it caused quite a bruise. His ear was all puffy and swollen and a blood blister formed almost instantly. We gave him some tylenol and he was fine. I think it looks a lot worse than it probably feels. Because it looks really bad.

My Favorite Cookies of All Time!!!

So,I sort of have this very deep obsession for chocolate crinkles. I did not discover them until I was in High School. But, oh my, I have certainly eaten plenty. That I am glad I did not discover them until later. I haven't really been able to find a recipe that I thought matched the Dutch Bakery in Deer Park, until Christmas time. Grandma Divis graciously gave me her old cooky recipe book. I found a recipe for Chocolate Crinkles in the book. And well, I guess you know what happened next. Eureka!! The most delicious chocolate crinkles I have ever had! So, here are a couple of pics of the little bits of chocolate heaven I made today, because I had a craving for them! Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Last night, James Micheal came into our bedroom with swimming goggles on. Don't ask me why or how or where he found them, but he did. And he sure thought he was hillarious. And in fact, it was pretty hillarious.

Orange Creamsicles

My husband seems to have a very weird obsession with orange creamsicles. And I guess this is a genetic trait, because my son now has a wierd obsession for orange creamsicles too. They love to sit together on the couch and eat them. The say mmmm and slurp a lot. It is really cute so I thought I would take a couple of pictures, so they can see how cute they are when they eat. I love my boys!!

Snow Day

James Micheal and daddy had a lot of fun in the snow, they built a fort and threw snowballs. It started snowing Saturday afternoon and didn't stop until Sunday night. The snow was so bad that they cancelled church on Sunday. And all the schools were closed on Monday. Not that it really matters, because the kids don't go to school yet. Even though the snow is a pain. It really does look beautiful. While the boys were outside Makayla decided it was a good time to get some peaceful sleep. She didn't even stay awake long enough for me to put her in her crib.So she fell asleep in her saucer. She is so adorable.

Funny James Micheal

Well, as we were eating breakfast this morning, I turn to look, and what do I see. My two year old with his cereal bowl on his head like a hat. He is so hillarious. Besides that life is going really well right now. The last couple of weeks Makayla has been making a lot of progress. She is always giggling and smiling. My mom came and babysat the kids and let James and I attend a session at the temple. It was really nice. That is all for now. Enjoy the pics of my silly little boy.

Let the Weaning Begin

Oh James Micheal say it isn't so, no more nursing!!

That's right, I said it. I am weaning Makayla off of me, finally. I am not going cold turkey like I had hoped for but half and half. Makayla is acutally doing really well with the formula, if I put it in one and only one bottle. That is the only way that girl will drink it. Ya know, I love feeding my babies, but this girl was just soo picky. I hope to have her officially just on formula next week. To celebrate this monumental occassion, I would like to say goodbye to all the wonderful things nursing involves. Goodbye to wet shirts, goodbye to going in my room and missing out on every adult conversation I have ever had, goodbye to midnight feedings. Good bye nursing, I am glad to be rid of you. Well, that is until I have another baby.

Happy New Year

Christmas is officially over, and the New Year has come. We got to spend about a half of a week up at my in-laws. There was a lot of baking and game playing. All of James' Family was there, except for his brother Jordan who is on his mission right now. We has a great time and had a lot of fun. We then headed to my parents house for about three days. James Micheal and Liam had a lot of fighting and hugging, and then some more fighting and hugging. We then went and saw a movie with my parents and the boys. We saw Alvin and the Chipmunks which was very cute. We came home for a day. Only to head out the next night. We went to our old home of Yakima and got to spend New Year's with our friends Russ and Emily. We had a wonderful time and were very sad we had to leave. We all had a very busy, but wonderful holiday. I always miss this time of year, when it is over. It was a lot of great memories. Here are some pictures of the family during Christmas break.

Peg and Hair Be Gone!!!

Well,it has finally happened. Makayla has no more peg. YEAHHHHH!!! She went to her ocularist, Kim Erickson, and got a prosthetic put in that doesnt have a giant peg sticking out of it. It was a great early Christmas present for us and her. The peg wont irritate her skin anymore, and people, will stop looking at us like we should be reported to Child Protective Services. Besides, Makayla's milestone, James Micheal has had a good day today too. He got to spend the night at Grandma McIntire's house last night and she gave him a very nice haircut. He looks very handsome, and very grown up. Every time he gets a haircut, he looks about a year older. So, if I count all of his haircuts, that would make him about eight years old. Just Kidding. Life is going good in the Divis household. We are all so excited for Chirstmas and love the holiday season.

My Silly Family

I am gonna get you
Peek a Boo
Ya know who cracks me up, my husband and kids. James is so funny with Makayla. He just has a way of making her laugh and make funny faces. And well, James Micheal is funny in his own way. He doesn't need any help. He decided last night to pull out our big red comforter and roll around on it with Makayla. The kids had a lot of fun together. James and I were laughing so much, watching the two of them interact with each other. Makayla would laugh anytime she heard James Micheal scream. So that would make James Micheal scream some more. I am sure our neighbors weren't very happy with us, but ya know what, we were having too much fun to care. I love our silly little family.

Makayla's Surgery

Well tomorrow at 6:45 am Makayla is getting her second surgery. Well I wouldn't really call it surgery, it is more like a procedure under anesthisia. She is getting put under and then they take impressions of her eye sockets and check them to make bigger prosthetics for her eyes. It isn't a very invasive surgery, but very nerve racking. James Micheal is going to my mother-in-laws house tonight since he really can't come with us. He is too young to go into the recovery room. I hope everything goes well, we love our little Makayla and want the best for her. I will just be happy when all the surgeries are done and she can not have to worry about them anymore.
